Rockin' With the Sox: Tim Wakefield

As the senior appendage of the Red Sox [team stats], knuckleball ewer Tim Wakefield [stats] maintains a practiced sense of humor. He says his first musical purchase was AC/DCs Back In Black.

On vinyl, he added. Yeah, Im that old.

Wakefield, who latterly turned 42, is non totally old school. He has embraced online music.

Most of my music is stuff on my iPod that I get through everybody elses computers, he aforesaid. I dont think Ive bought any music in probably 10 years.

His iPod is filled, Wakefield says, with country to rock to heavy metal to jazz. Whatevers available. I just load it up with everything.

When it comes to lively music, he remembers his first concert was Styx - the Mr. Roboto Tour in Orlando. I was 17, I think.

His most memorable live show?

The best concert Ive ever seen was Harry Connick Jr., Wake recalled sky-high. I byword his Christmas show and - from him playing the piano and singing, to his band - everybody was top-notch.

And what musician would Wakefield, world Health Organization has performed at the Hot Stove, Cool Music charity concert, most like to meet?

I love playing guitar, he said, so Eric Clapton comes to mind.
